History
The Starting Strength bar lineup was designed in 2018 by Buddy Capps and Texas Power Bars at the request of Mark Rippetoe for Starting Strength Gyms. These bars are bare steel all the way, a comfortable 28.5 mm* in diameter with the best knurl in the industry. The collars on the SS bars were redesigned with a bigger (3.25”) **diameter, shorter overall length, which also increases the plate space. The collars and sleeves are machined to a near smooth finish. The shafts have a center knurl (20 kg only) and dual ring marks. The 3-bar lineup includes a 20 kg, a 15 kg, and 10 kg option for all ages and strength levels. A natural steel bar that will age gracefully with your gym, The Starting Strength Bar will be your favorite piece of equipment for decades.
The Goal was to create a bar that would have and keep a better knurled grip. A bar, whose sleeves wouldn’t slide in to the center. A maintenance free bar.

Ordered my SS bar and received it in the UK less than two weeks after order.
The bar is the best in the business and is a real nice piece. I will get many years of solid lifting with this bar.
Best barbell I have ever owned
I orders my bar from Texas Power Bars and was completely satisfied with the delivery time, the customer service and the quality of the bar. I am particularly satisfied with the knurling.
The medium knurl on the starting strength bar is fantastic. Sticks to your hands like glue but doesn’t tear up your skin. I pulled a PR deadlift (535 lbs) two weeks after my bar arrived, and my fingers were no worse for wear afterward.
I can put weights on it and pick them up with it more easily than if i just tried to pick up the weights myself
