Capps Texas Body Building Bar was Co-Created and Endorsed by Branch Warren
Created in July 2019
86" Length
20Kg or 44lb
27mm shaft diameter
Medium knurl
52" inside collar dimensions
6" center knurl
3 hand space rings at 26"/32"/38"

When I started lifting weights with Olympic bars back in the 1960’s, I noticed that there was hardly any grip. The knurling on these bars was so light when the bars were new, that now years later they were almost slick. The sleeves were held on to the bar with a threaded end cap and the inside collars were held in place with a set screw. Each sleeve consisted of three pieces.

The Goal
was to create a bar that would have and keep a better knurled grip. A bar, whose sleeves wouldn’t slide in to the center. A maintenance free bar.

The Result - The Texas Power Bar

Proudly Made in the USA Since 1980. The shafts are center less ground, demagnetized and oiled to the max before shipping to Texas. Once at our production facility, we machine and then knurl each shaft to create a grip that is still the best in the industry. Texas Power Bars have different finishes available including black zinc and chrome plating. The sleeves are are available raw or chrome plated.

Big tensile strength numbers sound very impressive and we have them but, the proof is on the platform. Hundreds of state, national, international and world powerlifting records have been and continue to be set and broken on the The Texas Power Bar.

•1985 Fred Hatfield 1002lb Squat
•2007 Charles Bailey 1102lb Squat
•2016 Tiny Meeker 1102lb Bench Press

New favorite bar

I have the Ohio Power bar and the the Ohio bar but I just got the Texas Bodybuilding Bar. This one blows them away. The 27mm diameter is just right for my hands. The knurling is perfect and the triple hand alignment marks make setting up for JM presses easier for me. I just ordered a second one. I only wish they offered a version without the sleeves to use with the old school York plates with 1 1/8 inch holes.

Best description "Mini deadlift bar with added functionality"

Love the bar, arrived at my door 7 days after ordering. The ONLY reason a 4 star rating was given is because bare steel sleeves were "sold out" and I couldn't get the bar with them. The chrome coating makes the sleeves more resistant to rust but they also tend to be more slick for weight plates.
This bar is very unique at 27 mm in diameter it's perfect for deadlifts and positioning the bar at the base of your palm for presses so there is less wrist torque. It's also the same length as a regular bar so it's easy to maneuver in a rack. I'm very impressed with the abrupt stopping and starting of the knurling, especially considering that there are 6 knurl marks on the bar! The knurling feels like volcano type that is less deep than the Ohio power bar but there are more volcanoes per square inch on the bodybuilding bar, which is ideal for an all around bar. This is not meant for squats. At only 225lbs I was able to induce some slight whip with it on my back. That's fine, there are specific squat bars for squatting.
All in all, I'm impressed with TPB for even making this unique bar. Almost all bars are either power- or weightlifting bars or cookie cutter hybrid bars. TPB has very diverse barbell offerings, compared to other barbell manufacturers, when you consider that they make this bar, the Monster Squat Bar and everything else in-between!
