I’ve had this bar for over a year and it’s by far my favorite! I also own several AB power bars and others from Ohio. Those are fine too but the knurl, bare steel shaft, collars, sleeves, and diameter make the SS so much better. It’s the sum of the parts which exceeds the whole. The bare steel combined with the medium knurl makes this an unbeatable combination for nearly all lifts. The build quality is second to none with almost no slop in the sleeve or machining of the knurl. I do prefer a 29m bar for squatting but the tackiness of the bare steel more than makes up for difference. I really like the thicker collars which tends to give the bar a nice balance and equilibrium when lifting. I have a Rogue rack (which is 49” wide) and those thicker collars help avoid banging the uprights which is an issue with those thin competition collars on some bars. The bottom line: this is a life long bar and truly exceptional for all your needs. Just get it. I’ve yet to find its limitation.
The knurling on this bar is fantastic. I didn’t think a quality bar mattered until this one arrived and I held it. The dark steel is very attractive as well. It’s nice to have a quality piece of gear.
I ordered my SS 20Kg bar after much debate between it and the Ohio Power Bar from Rogue and the B&R bar from Rogue. Texas Power Bars in Irving TX appealed to me for several reasons including their bar design, construction, reputation for quality, and the fact that they are a small ling time family owned shop from Irving Texas, the long time home of my grand parents. What i did not realize when I placed my order is that TPBs as a small company has really invested heavily in their product, materials, and construction but that they are not as modern or advanced in the automation of order statusing or lead time estimation. I did not get a lead time estimation at the time I placed my order and when I enquired about its progress a few times before i got the ship notice the estimation was always the same polite “We are working hard to get to your bar and will ship it as soon as it has been built. We are hoping to be done with it next week”. Long story short it took about eight weeks for my bar to ship, but when i got it it was clear that it was worth the wait. I do own a Rogue barbell as well and its a really well made bar but my new TPB is far superior in construction in my view. If you have the patience TPB will reward you with a bar you can be proud to own and operate for the rest of your lifting days and likely pass on to your kids, grand kids, etc. Excellent product made by excellent people for those with a little patience.
Took over 3 months for my bar to be ready for pickup. I live 30 minutes from their facility in Irving so I just opted for local pickup instead of delivery. I was very excited to get my new bar since for the past 2 years I've been using the same cheap amazon bar I found on craigslist for $90 at the start of the plandemic.
I would have been fine with waiting 3 months if I would've been told when I bought the bar that it would've taken a while for it to be made. I would've totally understood. I get that there is supply chain problems and such, just a little heads up would've been nice.
But the bar is really nice, the knurling is spot on. Not too aggressive. Just right.
Ordered my SS bar and received it in the UK less than two weeks after order.
The bar is the best in the business and is a real nice piece. I will get many years of solid lifting with this bar.
