Choosing & Using Your Bar
Which Bar is right for me?
The right bar depends on how you train, the lifts you perform, and the feel you prefer. Whether you need an all-purpose Power Bar, Deadlift Bar, Squat Bar, or another specialty bar, our lineup is built for different training styles and performance needs.
Visit our Compare All Bars page to find the right bar for you, or contact our expert Texas-based support team at team@texaspowerbars.com for personalized help.
What is the difference between the “Original” Texas Power Bar, PRO, and ELITE?
The “Original” Texas Power Bar is the legendary 28.5mm bar that established the Texas Power Bar standard in 1980. It delivers the classic feel, aggressive grip, and performance lifters have trusted for decades.
The Texas Power Bar PRO is a stiffer 29mm evolution with upgraded tensile strength, longer loadable sleeves, a wider center knurl, tighter straightness tolerances, and your choice of Aggressive or Medium knurl.
The Texas Power Bar ELITE is our stiffest and most refined Power Bar, featuring low-profile competition-style collars, our longest loadable sleeves, smooth sleeves, the widest center knurl, and your choice of Aggressive or Medium knurl.
Visit our Compare All Bars page for a complete side-by-side comparison.
What is the difference between Aggressive and Medium knurling?
Aggressive knurling delivers maximum bite and grip for lifters who want the bar firmly locked into their hands or across their back during heavy training.
Medium knurling provides a secure, confident grip with a less sharp feel, making it a strong option for higher-volume training or lifters who prefer a more comfortable daily-use bar.
Both options are precision-cut for dependable grip. The best choice comes down to your personal preference and training style.
How long will the knurling stay sharp?
Texas Power Bars are known worldwide for precision-cut, long-lasting knurling built for years of serious training.
Will Texas Bars fit standard plates, collars, and power racks?
Yes. Texas Power Bars are designed to fit standard Olympic plates, competition-calibrated steel plates, bumper plates, and collars made for approximately 2-inch barbell sleeves.
Most models are also designed for standard power racks. Specialty bars may have unique shaft lengths, collar spacing, or overall dimensions based on their intended purpose. Because equipment dimensions can vary slightly by manufacturer, review the published specifications for both products before ordering.
Do the sleeves rotate, and what type of sleeve system is used?
Yes. Most all Texas bars feature rotating sleeves engineered for smooth, dependable performance. Depending on the model, our bars use precision bushings or bearings selected for that bar’s intended style of training.
The specific sleeve system is listed on each product page. Minor sleeve movement, sound, or differences in free spin are normal characteristics of rotating barbell components and do not necessarily affect performance.
Can Texas Power Bars be dropped with bumper plates?
Bars specifically designed for movements involving controlled drops may be used with approved bumper plates on an appropriate lifting platform.
Loaded bars should never be dropped or dumped onto rack pins, safety arms, straps, boxes, benches, metal surfaces, or other equipment. Concentrated or uncontrolled impact can damage or permanently bend any barbell and is not considered normal use under our warranty.
Always use each bar according to its intended purpose and the specifications listed on its product page.
Can I use chalk, lifting straps, or liquid grip with my bar?
Yes. Texas Power Bars are built for serious training and may be used with chalk, lifting straps, and liquid grip.
Remove chalk, sweat, moisture, and liquid-grip residue after training to help preserve the knurling and finish. Excessive buildup, improper accessory use, or lack of maintenance may contribute to corrosion, finish wear, or other cosmetic changes that are not considered manufacturing defects.
How should Texas Power Bars be used, and can they be dropped?
Texas Power Bars are built in Texas from high-strength American steel and have been trusted for serious strength training since 1980.
Bars designed for controlled drops may be used with approved bumper plates on an appropriate lifting platform. Loaded bars should never be dropped or dumped onto rack pins, safety arms, straps, boxes, benches, metal surfaces, or other equipment. Concentrated or uncontrolled impact can damage or permanently bend any barbell and is not considered normal use.
We do not assign one universal maximum load to every bar because performance depends on the model, lift, loading method, plate placement, equipment, and manner of use.
Are Texas Power Bars approved for competition, and are the specifications exact?
Select Texas Power Bars are approved and trusted for competition use. Current approvals and competition specifications are listed on each applicable product page. Because federation requirements may change, athletes and meet directors should confirm current rules before competition.
Texas Power Bars are hand-built in Texas to exacting specifications and tight manufacturing tolerances refined since 1980. Published weights and dimensions are target specifications, and minor variations within accepted manufacturing tolerances may occur without affecting performance or indicating a defect.
Are Texas Power Bars made in Texas with American steel?
Yes. Texas Power Bars have been hand-built in Texas with American steel since 1980.
For more than four decades, our bars have been trusted in garage gyms, commercial facilities, competitions, and strength communities around the world.
Certain apparel, accessories, resale products, partner products, or individual components may be manufactured or sourced elsewhere. Product-specific origin details may be listed on the applicable product page.
What are Cosmetic Blemish Texas Power Bars?
Cosmetic Blemish bars are fully functional Texas Power Bars offered at a reduced price because of cosmetic imperfections that do not affect their intended strength or performance.
Blemishes may include finish inconsistencies, discoloration, scratches, marks, coating variations, or other cosmetic differences. The location, appearance, and severity of each blemish will vary, and customers cannot select a specific imperfection.
Cosmetic Blemish bars are sold as-is and are final sale. Cosmetic conditions disclosed through the product designation are not covered under warranty.
Finishes, Wear & Maintenance
Which barbell finish should I choose?
Each finish offers a different balance of grip, appearance, maintenance, and corrosion resistance.
Bare Steel delivers the rawest, most direct connection to the bar but has no corrosion-resistant coating. It requires regular maintenance and will naturally develop a patina and may develop surface rust.
Chrome, Black Zinc, and Cerakote provide added corrosion resistance and distinct appearance and feel. No working barbell finish is completely maintenance-free or permanently immune to wear, oxidation, or discoloration.
Review the available finish options on each product page or contact team@texaspowerbars.com for help choosing.
How should I clean, maintain, and store my barbell?
Texas Power Bars are built for years of serious training, and simple routine care will help preserve their appearance and performance.
Remove sweat, moisture, chalk, and liquid-grip buildup after training. Use a steel-bristle maintenance brush on Bare Steel and a softer nylon brush on coated finishes. Bare Steel also benefits from periodic application of a light protective oil.
Bars may be stored in a garage, but changing temperatures, humidity, and condensation may require more frequent maintenance. Outdoor storage is not recommended. Damage caused by exposure, moisture, chemicals, improper storage, or lack of maintenance is not considered a manufacturing defect.
Will the finish or knurling change with use?
Texas Power Bars are working pieces of strength equipment, and normal use will create character over time. Sleeve marks, rack contact, finish wear, discoloration, patina, and gradual changes in knurl feel are normal.
Our precision-cut knurling is built for years of dependable grip, but its feel may gradually change with extensive training, rack contact, aggressive cleaning, accessory use, or lack of maintenance.
Cosmetic wear, coating changes, oxidation, surface rust, discoloration, and normal knurl wear are not covered under warranty.
Are replacement parts, service, or refurbishment available?
For liability reasons Texas Power Bar does not sell or supply any replacement parts.
Can I store my Texas Power Bar in a garage or outdoors?
Texas Power Bars are trusted in garage gyms around the world. However, garages may experience humidity, condensation, and major temperature changes, so bars stored in non-climate-controlled environments may require more frequent cleaning and maintenance.
Outdoor storage is not recommended. Exposure to rain, moisture, sunlight, chemicals, and changing temperatures can accelerate oxidation, corrosion, and finish deterioration.
Damage caused by improper storage, outdoor exposure, moisture, or neglect is not considered a manufacturing defect.
How do I clean and maintain my Texas Power Bar?
Texas Power Bars are built for years of serious training, and simple routine care will help preserve their appearance and performance.
Remove sweat, moisture, chalk, and liquid-grip residue after use. Brush the knurling as needed and keep the bar clean and dry.
Use a steel brush on Bare Steel bars. Use a softer nylon brush on Chrome, Black Zinc, Cerakote, and other coated finishes to avoid unnecessarily accelerating cosmetic wear.
Maintenance frequency depends on the finish, training environment, storage conditions, and frequency of use.
Does my barbell need oil or lubrication?
Bare Steel bars benefit from periodic application of a light protective oil to help reduce oxidation and surface rust. Apply a small amount to a clean cloth, wipe the exposed steel, and remove any excess before training.
Coated bars generally require less frequent oiling but should still be kept clean and dry.
The sleeves and internal components should not be disassembled, modified, or lubricated without first contacting Texas Power Bars. For assistance, email our Texas-based support team at team@texaspowerbars.com.

Texas Power Bars accepts the payment methods displayed through our secure online checkout. Payment is generally collected when the order is placed.

Institutional purchase orders are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may be subject to approval, order minimums, payment terms, shipping costs, and product availability.

Qualifying tax-exempt customers should submit valid documentation for approval before ordering. Retroactive tax reimbursement cannot be guaranteed.
How do discounts, promotions, and gift cards work?
Discount codes, affiliate codes, wholesale pricing, sponsorship pricing, free-shipping offers, gift cards, and other promotions generally cannot be combined unless expressly stated.

Discounts generally must be applied during checkout and cannot be guaranteed retroactively. Gift-card terms, expiration dates, and promotional restrictions are subject to the terms provided when issued.
Can I purchase eligible products with HSA or FSA funds?
Eligible customers may be able to purchase qualifying fitness equipment using HSA or FSA funds through Truemed.
Qualification may require completing a health assessment and receiving a Letter of Medical Necessity. Truemed Split Pay may also be available for eligible customers who need to combine HSA/FSA funds with another payment method.
Texas Power Bars does not determine eligibility or guarantee approval or reimbursement. All decisions remain subject to Truemed, the customer’s plan administrator, and applicable rules.

Unless otherwise stated, promotional gifts may be limited to one per customer, household, address, payment method, or qualifying order.
Texas Power Bars may cancel, adjust, or refund orders that appear to duplicate, manipulate, or otherwise violate promotional terms.
Shipping, Pickup, & Delivery
What shipping options are available, and when will my order arrive?
Texas Power Bars ships throughout the United States and to select international destinations. Available methods depend on the product, package dimensions, weight, destination, and carrier availability.
Texas Power Bars are hand-built and fulfilled in Texas. Processing times vary based on inventory, finish, customization, order size, and production volume. Any processing or delivery timeline shown on a product page, at checkout, in tracking, or through customer support is a good-faith estimate and is not guaranteed.
Tracking information is emailed when a shipping label is created. Tracking may not show movement until the carrier collects and scans the package. Products from the same order may ship separately and arrive on different days.
Standard barbells arrive fully assembled and ready to train with after the packaging has been removed and the bar has been inspected. A light layer of protective oil may be present on certain components.
Barbells and most oversized products require a complete physical delivery address and generally cannot be shipped to a P.O. box.
Are the shipping charges shown on the website final?
Shipping charges displayed on our website or during checkout are good-faith estimates based on the information available at the time of the order. All shipping costs are subject to review and recalculation.
Actual charges may change based on final shipment dimensions, weight, destination, carrier availability, freight conditions, residential or limited-access service, liftgate requirements, address corrections, remote-area charges, or other carrier fees.
If the actual shipping cost differs from the amount collected, Texas Power Bars may contact the customer for additional payment, adjust the shipping method, hold the order, or cancel and refund the unfulfilled portion of the order at our discretion. Required additional shipping charges must be paid before shipment or delivery.
Do you offer local pickup?
Local pickup may be available for eligible orders in the Dallas–Fort Worth area.
Local pickup does not guarantee showroom access, walk-in purchasing, product testing, or same-day additions. Identification or written authorization may be required when someone other than the purchaser collects the order.
To place an order for pickup please go to checkout or email team@texaspowerbars.com to learn more1
What should I know about oversized and freight delivery?
Oversized bars, plates, palletized orders, and volume purchases may require freight delivery.
Unless expressly included in writing, standard freight service is curbside delivery to an accessible residential or commercial receiving area. It does not include unloading, liftgate service, placement inside a home, garage, gym, or building, installation, unpacking, or packaging removal.
Liftgate and other special services may be available for an additional charge when requested before shipment. Customers are responsible for ensuring that the delivery location is accessible and for arranging the people or equipment needed to unload and move the shipment safely.
The carrier may contact the recipient to arrange a delivery window. Missed appointments, storage, redelivery, limited-access service, address corrections, or other special handling may result in additional customer charges.
Inspect freight before signing whenever possible. Photograph and clearly note visible damage or shortages on the carrier’s delivery receipt. Signing without noting visible damage may limit available carrier-claim options.
How does international shipping work?
Texas Power Bar does ship internationally! Please go to checkout on the website to see shipping rates and complete the order.
International customers are responsible for all shipping charges, customs duties, taxes, brokerage fees, import charges, permits, inspections, storage fees, and any other costs imposed by the carrier or destination country unless expressly stated otherwise in writing.
Texas Power Bars is not responsible for customs delays, rejected imports, unpaid fees, refused shipments, or additional charges assessed after the order is placed.
International parcel and freight rates displayed on our website are estimates only and may change based on final shipment dimensions, weight, destination, carrier availability, and current freight conditions. Any additional charges must be paid by the customer before shipment or delivery.
What should I do if my shipment is damaged, incomplete, delayed, or marked delivered but missing?
Inspect every shipment promptly and keep all original packaging, tubes, pallets, labels, and protective materials until the entire order has been confirmed correct.
For damage, shortages, or an incorrect product, email team@texaspowerbars.com promptly with your order number and clear photos of the shipping label, complete packaging, full product, damaged areas, and any delivery documentation. When possible, report concerns within 24 hours because carrier claim periods may be time-sensitive.
Packaging damage alone does not necessarily mean the product inside is damaged and does not automatically qualify an order for replacement, refund, discount, or compensation.
If tracking shows delivered, check all entrances, garages, gates, receiving areas, nearby secure locations, household members, neighbors, and building staff before contacting the carrier and Texas Power Bars.
Each issue is reviewed individually. Available resolutions depend on verification, supporting documentation, product condition and functionality, carrier findings, and applicable policies.
Customers are responsible for providing an accurate and accessible delivery address. Additional costs caused by an incorrect address, refused delivery, missed appointment, return-to-sender, rerouting, storage, redelivery, or reshipping may be charged to the customer. Original shipping charges are generally nonrefundable.
What happens if a returned shipment is not reshipped?
When an order is returned because of an incorrect address, refused delivery, missed appointment, customer unavailability, or another issue outside Texas Power Bars’ control, the customer may choose to pay the applicable charges to have it reshipped.
If the customer declines reshipment, the order may be handled as a return, subject to return eligibility, restocking fees, original and return shipping charges, carrier fees, and other applicable deductions. A refund is not guaranteed until the product is received and inspected.
Returns & Warranty
What is your return and exchange policy?
For more info regarding returns and exchanges eligibility please visit the returns page and then email team@texaspowerbars.com.

Custom, co-branded, Cerakote, clearance, cosmetic-blemish, and other products identified as final sale may not be eligible. Products that have been loaded, lifted with, chalked, racked, dropped, modified, damaged, or improperly packaged may also be ineligible or subject to additional deductions.
