Description
BIG TEX Deadlift Bar
The Ultimate Nearly 10' Long Oversized Deadlift Bar
60 lbs • 29mm Shaft • 117.5" Length • 200k PSI
We invented the original Deadlift Bar. Now, we are claiming the oversized strongman category. For years, lifters have watched giants pull world records on massive 10-foot bars on TV. The BIG TEX Deadlift Bar brings that extreme experience straight to your platform. We don't build imitations; the BIG TEX is the definitive Texas-forged 10' long deadlift bar, engineered to outlast and out-pull the Elephant, Mammoth, and any other oversized bar on the market.
We built a 60 lb, 117.5-inch monster designed to bend, flex, and dominate the platform. Forged from ultra-premium American steel, the BIG TEX features a massive 200,000 PSI tensile strength. The extreme 10-foot length forces the weight further out from the center, creating an aggressive, signature bar whip that allows you to pull the bar higher before the plates ever leave the floor. Accept no substitutes—own the ultimate strongman weapon.
Choose Your Finish: Bare Steel vs. Chrome
The BIG TEX is available in two distinct configurations to match your gym's environment and your pulling preferences:
- Bare Steel Shaft (with Chrome Sleeves): For the purist. An uncoated bare steel shaft delivers the absolute sharpest, rawest knurl bite possible. (Requires routine oiling to prevent natural oxidation).
- Full Bright Chrome: For maximum durability. Provides heavy-duty rust resistance and easier maintenance while preserving our legendary aggressive knurling.
WHY DOES IT COST SO MUCH TO SHIP? Freight Cost Explained...
We will shoot you straight... we wish it was cheaper to ship this bar, but it is very expensive to ship and there is simply no way around it. At nearly 10 feet long, standard carriers won't attempt to handle the BIG TEX Deadlift Bar. Therefore, every single one of these bars must ship via specialized LTL freight on a custom oversized pallet, which carries a very high shipping premium.
The Solution (Lower Your Per-Item Cost): You are paying for that pallet space no matter what when ordering a BIG TEX Deadlift Bar, so whether a buddy wants one too or you want other Texas Power Bars, we can add them to the pallet to "tag along," greatly reducing the per-item cost... don't pay to ship empty wood.
Or Avoid Shipping Costs All Together: Pay no shipping costs at all and pickup free of charge at our factory!

The Science of the Oversized Deadlift Pull ▼
Standard power bars and deadlift bars top out around 86 to 92.5 inches. By extending the BIG TEX to an unprecedented 117.5 inches, we fundamentally change the physics of the lift.
With the loaded weight pushed nearly five feet away from the center on each side, the 200k PSI American steel shaft is forced to bow deeply before the plates ever leave the ground. This extreme "whip" allows the lifter to transition into an mechanically advantageous upright pulling position while the bar is still taking tension. When the weight finally snaps off the floor, the lifter is already in their strongest power-generating stance.
Frequently Asked Questions — BIG TEX Deadlift Bar ▼
1. How does the BIG TEX compare to the Mammoth Bar or Elephant Bar?
As the pioneers of the deadlift bar, we engineered the BIG TEX to be the undisputed heavyweight champion of the nearly 10' long deadlift bar category. While it masters the same extreme whip and overload capacity required for elite Strongman events as the Elephant and Mammoth bars, it is uniquely forged with our legendary Texas grip, 100% American steel, and the uncompromising durability you expect from our brand.
2. What finish options are available for the BIG TEX?
We offer the BIG TEX in two configurations to suit your gym environment. The Bare Steel shaft provides the absolute sharpest, rawest knurl bite possible but requires routine oiling to prevent oxidation. The Full Chrome finish provides heavy-duty rust resistance and easier maintenance while preserving our legendary aggressive knurling.
3. Why is the bar 60 lbs instead of standard weight?
Due to the extreme 117.5-inch overall length and the extended 19.5-inch sleeves required to hold massive amounts of weight, the total steel mass naturally brings the unloaded bar weight to a hefty 60 lbs.
4. Will this bar permanently bend?
No. While the bar will flex deeply under heavy loads (the "whip"), the premium 200,000 PSI American steel shaft ensures the bar maintains its structural integrity and returns to straight when the weight is unloaded.

Commonly Asked Questions
Commonly Asked Questions
Do Texas Power Bars come with a warranty?
All Texas Power Bars products manufactured by Capps Welding Inc. have a lifetime warranty on craftsmanship. Our bars have a limited lifetime warranty against bending for the original owner under normal use. We do not warrant any item that has been abused, neglected or dumped on rack pins, safety bars, straps, boxes et al. Bushings and bearings will wear over time. If a bushing or bearing should fail/break under normal use this is covered under our warranty for 5 years.
Any bar shaft that is bent will be handled on a case by case basis and the replacement will be at the sole discretion of Capps Welding Inc.
The original customer may ship a bar back for inspection after written authorization is provided.
Proudly Made in Texas for over 40 years.
How should I maintain my barbell to ensure it lasts a lifetime?
Wipe down the shaft and sleeves with a dry cloth after training to remove chalk and sweat. For deeper cleaning, use a stiff nylon brush on the knurling. Lightly oil the sleeves every few months if needed.
Can I use chalk, straps, or liquid grip with my bar?
Yes. Chalk, straps, and liquid grip are all safe to use and won’t void your warranty. We recommend brushing excess chalk out of the knurling regularly.
What’s the best way to clean the knurling and sleeves?
Use a stiff nylon brush to loosen chalk and dirt. Avoid wire brushes, as they can damage the finish. For sleeves, wipe with a dry or lightly oiled cloth.
Will my barbell ever need oiling or lubrication?
Our bronze bushings are self-lubricating and require very little maintenance. Occasionally wiping the sleeves with a cloth and a few drops of light oil will keep them moving smoothly.
Are Texas Power Bars safe to store in a garage or outdoors?
Yes, but keep in mind that extreme humidity or rain exposure can cause surface rust. If storing in a garage, occasional cleaning and oiling will help prevent rust. We don’t recommend outdoor storage without protection.
How long will the knurling stay sharp?
Texas Power Bars are known for their aggressive, long-lasting knurling. With regular use and proper care, the knurling will maintain its bite for decades.
Can my barbell handle dropping with bumper plates?
Yes. Texas Power Bars are built to withstand heavy drops with bumper plates, but they are not designed for repeated drops on bare steel plates or on hard surfaces without protective flooring.
Do the sleeves spin, and what type of bushing system do you use?
Yes. All Texas Power Bars use self-lubricating bronze bushings for a reliable, smooth sleeve rotation without the maintenance needs of needle bearings.
Are these bars approved for competition use?
Yes. The Original Texas Power Bar and Texas Deadlift Bar are widely approved and trusted in federations including IPF, USAPL, and many others.
