29mm Texas Power Bar

I’ve owned a bare steel 28.5mm TBP for a long time and I’ve been using them for way longer than that. It’s the OG of power bars and it’s the bar I’ve always gone back to. But… I’ve been waiting for a 29mm bar from Buddy Capps because the 28.5 was not my ideal for squatting as it flexed a little too much coming out of the hole.

Enter the 29mm bare steel TBP. This bar is stiffer, seems a lot stiffer to me. Also, the knurling is WILD. I’m not sure if they had just changed out the lathe and my bar was the first through, but wow, this bar is SHARP. It is the sharpest knurling I’ve ever used - I cut my hands the first time I used it and I definitely would not recommend this for any kind of clean or oly movements. Having said that, it’s perfect for me. I’m done buying barbells.

The craftsmanship is solid, better than the 28.5mm I own and better than my Texas DL bar. And that’s nitpicking, because the quality has always been great. But this bar is just better. There is less movement in the sleeves, the end marks on the knurling are cleaner, it’s just one damned good barbell anyway you look at it. And way better than the power bar they make in that other state.

After training at gyms that rarely had good bars for 35 years I broke down and put something together at home. This bar is knurling is awesome and is everything it's supposed to be. The shifting of the sleeves is a little weird but not too big of a deal not enough to ding it. Spent so much money but I really want to get the deadlift bar sooner than later. We'll see how the month goes.

The knurling is perfect!! Absolutely love the feel and look of this bar.
