Marrs-Bar Safety Squat Lite 35lb

Description
Marrs-Bar Safety Squat Bar LITE (35LB)
The Official Beginner & Rehab SSB For Linear Progression
Made in USA — 35lbs / 82" Length — FSA/HSA Eligible
The famous Marrs-Bar LITE (2.0 Version) brings the revolutionary hands-free squatting experience to a more accessible, lighter-duty frame. Weighing just 35 lbs with a shorter 82-inch length, this specialized safety squat bar is designed specifically for smaller athletes, youth weightlifting, beginners, and home gyms where the 65lb original might be too heavy or cumbersome to start with.
Retaining the patented "backpack" load distribution and a 45° camber drop for perfect low-bar positioning, the Marrs-Bar Lite eliminates axial load on the neck and cervical spine. It is a highly effective, approachable tool for learning the squat, rehabbing injuries, or practicing hands-free lunges and good mornings without intimidation.
Why The Marrs-Bar Lite Outperforms Standard SSBs
Perfectly scaled for accessibility without sacrificing the patented design:
- ✓ 35 lb Starting Weight: Approachable for beginners, physical therapy patients, and youth who aren't ready for a 45lb or 65lb bar.
- ✓ The "Backpack" Harness: Vinyl-wrapped high-density memory foam wraps around the shoulders, completely avoiding the neck and cervical spine.
- ✓ True Hands-Free Stability: The 45° camber drop locks perfectly into your center of gravity, allowing you to squat hands-free while keeping an upright posture.
- ✓ 400lb Capacity & Standard Collars: Built from fully welded 1.5" solid steel with 12.5" chrome sleeves that fit standard Olympic collars.
Train Around Injuries. Squat Without Pain.
Shoulder, elbow, and wrist mobility issues frequently stop athletes from performing a traditional straight-bar back squat. Because the Marrs-Bar allows you to grip the handles naturally in front of your body (or not hold on at all), you can completely bypass the upper extremities and safely overload your lower body.
For those dealing with lower back pain, the Marrs-Bar alters the leverage point of the squat, enforcing a more upright torso. This lighter 35lb version is the absolute gold standard for physical therapy, sports rehab, and introducing clients to pain-free movement.
More Than Just Back Squats
The Marrs-Bar Lite's unique weight distribution makes it an incredibly versatile training tool for your entire lower body:
- Front Squats: Traditional front squats require immense wrist mobility. The Marrs-Bar allows you to comfortably front squat by simply reversing the harness—delivering brutal quad isolation without the wrist pain.
- Good Mornings: Because the bar locks into your center of gravity and won't roll up your neck, you can confidently overload your hamstrings with perfect spinal alignment.
- Lunges & Bulgarian Split Squats: Balance is the hardest part of heavy unilateral leg work. The "backpack" feel frees up your hands to hold onto a rack for balance, pushing your leg strength to the limit.
- Hatfield Squats: The hands-free design is tailor-made for holding the rack uprights to push through sticking points safely.
Who This Specialty Bar Is For
- Youth & Beginners: A light barbell for beginners that allows for mastering mechanics safely.
- Rehab & Physical Therapy: Athletes recovering from injuries needing a manageable 35lb starting weight.
- Home Gym Owners: The shorter 82" length makes it much easier to maneuver in tight garage gym spaces.
- Lifters with Mobility Issues: Anyone with shoulder or elbow pain that makes straight-bar squatting impossible.
"The safest way to introduce hands-free squats and linear progression."
What's Included & Easy Setup

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the 35lb LITE and the 65lb Original Marrs-Bar?
The LITE 2.0 version is tailored for smaller athletes, youth, and home gyms. It weighs 35 lbs (vs. 65 lbs), has an 82-inch overall length (vs. 89 inches), features 12.5" sleeves (vs. 16.25"), and has a 400 lb max capacity (vs. 1200 lbs).
Is the padding durable on the Lite version?
Absolutely. It uses a premium high-density, vinyl-wrapped memory foam that will not break down, flatten, or rip like cheap foam rollers found on budget bars.
Can I use standard barbell collars on the Marrs-Bar Lite?
Yes! Unlike many specialty bars that require specialized axle collars, the Marrs-Bar features standard 2" Chrome sleeves. Your regular spring clips or lock-jaw collars will fit perfectly.

Yes. Despite the shorter 82" overall length, the spacing between the cambers is designed to be fully rackable in standard-width power racks and squat stands.

Commonly Asked Questions
Do Texas Power Bars come with a warranty?
All Texas Power Bars products manufactured by Capps Welding Inc. have a lifetime warranty on craftsmanship. Our bars have a limited lifetime warranty against bending for the original owner under normal use. We do not warrant any item that has been abused, neglected or dumped on rack pins, safety bars, straps, boxes et al. Bushings and bearings will wear over time. If a bushing or bearing should fail/break under normal use this is covered under our warranty for 5 years.
Any bar shaft that is bent will be handled on a case by case basis and the replacement will be at the sole discretion of Capps Welding Inc.
The original customer may ship a bar back for inspection after written authorization is provided.
Proudly Made in Texas for over 40 years.
How should I maintain my barbell to ensure it lasts a lifetime?
Wipe down the shaft and sleeves with a dry cloth after training to remove chalk and sweat. For deeper cleaning, use a stiff nylon brush on the knurling. Lightly oil the sleeves every few months if needed.
Can I use chalk, straps, or liquid grip with my bar?
Yes. Chalk, straps, and liquid grip are all safe to use and won’t void your warranty. We recommend brushing excess chalk out of the knurling regularly.
What’s the best way to clean the knurling and sleeves?
Use a stiff nylon brush to loosen chalk and dirt. Avoid wire brushes, as they can damage the finish. For sleeves, wipe with a dry or lightly oiled cloth.
Will my barbell ever need oiling or lubrication?
Our bronze bushings are self-lubricating and require very little maintenance. Occasionally wiping the sleeves with a cloth and a few drops of light oil will keep them moving smoothly.
Are Texas Power Bars safe to store in a garage or outdoors?
Yes, but keep in mind that extreme humidity or rain exposure can cause surface rust. If storing in a garage, occasional cleaning and oiling will help prevent rust. We don’t recommend outdoor storage without protection.
How long will the knurling stay sharp?
Texas Power Bars are known for their aggressive, long-lasting knurling. With regular use and proper care, the knurling will maintain its bite for decades.
Can my barbell handle dropping with bumper plates?
Yes. Texas Power Bars are built to withstand heavy drops with bumper plates, but they are not designed for repeated drops on bare steel plates or on hard surfaces without protective flooring.
Do the sleeves spin, and what type of bushing system do you use?
Yes. All Texas Power Bars use self-lubricating bronze bushings for a reliable, smooth sleeve rotation without the maintenance needs of needle bearings.
Are these bars approved for competition use?
Yes. The Original Texas Power Bar and Texas Deadlift Bar are widely approved and trusted in federations including IPF, USAPL, and many others.
